Where would you love to work, and where would you not?
The most useful question here, and the only one worth typing an answer to.
Name one or two real places and say what draws you. Anything counts: the work, the people, the technology, the money, the pace, how it would look on your CV. Being honest about status or ambition helps more than being modest. If nothing comes to mind, say so and we will come back to it once you have seen some real openings.
Guessing is fine, so is not knowing. Too much pressure, the wrong team, a commute, hard to get into, or something you would rather not give up. This is what stops us matching you to something that looks right on paper and would not be.
Industries, kinds of organisation, or a real company. This used to be a grid of tick boxes (fossil fuels, gambling, tobacco) and it asked the wrong thing: the objection that matters is almost always specific, and no list holds "not defence, though I would work on nuclear safety". Say what and why, and say whether a genuinely good role could ever make up for it, because that trade-off is the part we would otherwise guess.
The practical side
These become limits in the ranking rather than suggestions, so they are worth a moment.
